Behaviour I
A favourite of students and teachers alike, this class is suitable for first timers, and for professionals looking to tune up their craft. The session begins with a look at basic human behaviour and within minutes, students are up on their feet, creating new characters. The class includes text work, instant theatre and discussions about the "business" side of The Business. This course is an incredible resource for the actor and a lot of fun.

Behaviour II
Now that you've enjoyed eight weeks of character creation in The Behaviour I Class, it's time to use your new-found super powers (status and attitude skills) to dig a little deeper into the human being. Behaviour II is a six week concentrator class that focuses the actor's newly acquired craft on more advanced scenarios & scenes with a wee bit of camera work thrown in. Students will receive a DVD sample of their work.

Behaviour III (Inner Life)
An introduction to playing opposites.
This class takes a look at how "normal" personality traits conspire to create physical behaviour in us.
It examines how contradictions in the human personality can create
beautifully layered characters. The natural human reflex to hide our
feelings gives us tremendous and subtle power in performance. Students
will play their characters in an improv that lasts 8 weeks.

Scene Camera
Given a scene from a play or a film, how does the actor craft it into a piece? Or prepare it for an audition? Scene Camera is an intensive session with accomplished stage & screen actors, directors & film makers. Class time is divided equally between pure scene study, page to stage, and scene on camera. Areas of focus include: wide, medium & close up shots, two-shots & singles, foreground/background physicality, and movement for the camera. Students will work with two or more instructors in this session and will receive a DVD sample of their work.

Laban
In Behaviour Class we work from the inside - out to create real behaviour. Laban technique is about working from the outside - in. It is very physical and very fun.
Laban Class is a movement based training system created by dancer/ choreographer, Rudolph Laban. Laban students study how certain physical influences affect character creation. For example: Heavy body versus light body; Quick reactions versus sustained reactions; Direct approach versus indirect approach to any moment. The actor will develop an awareness of their own subtle and obvious physicality in everyday life and begin to recognize and understand where and how thought, emotion, and intention live in the body. Students will also have the opportunity to apply these techniques in scenes. Those of you who enjoyed The Behaviour Class will love The Laban Class.

The Performance Class
Welcome to the theatre. You are cast in a play, rehearsed for 10 weeks by a theatre professional and then you and your cast mates give three performances before an audience .
Even if you've never imagined performing in a play, you will feel the rush that only live theatre can give you.
Students will learn professional rehearsal and performance process.
Students will receive a DVD sample of their work.

Improv Class
The ultimate instant theatre class. Proposing and accepting great offers. Learning to be patient and to listen, remembering how to play. Our Improv teachers focus on the importance of listening, accepting, creating environment, relationship, and reincorporating story elements. They even even deal with the ethics of improv. The class culminates in an improv show (First set of the ASM Improv Night). Great improv skills sharpen the wits and ultimately makes one a better actor.

Cinemaniacs
A really fun, 'hands on' class. Cinemaniacs is an advanced on camera
class which combines performances (recreating scenes from famous films)
with a brief history of film. (Important films; Film makers; The
evolution of film.) Students will perform in scenes from famous films
while studying structure, performance and editing. The Cinemaniacs
Class is a weekly film shoot, where students practice film acting
skills, and take part in crew duties such as lighting, sound etc.
Students will receive a DVD sample of their work.

The 48-Hour Film Festival
Highly addictive and super fun..
Star in a twenty minute film that you and your team make in a weekend.
Friday at 5:30pm, participants gather & put their names into a hat.
The names are randomly drawn to form teams, and the great adventure begins.
The remainder of Friday evening is used to plan your 20 minute films.
Saturday; The teams shoot their films.
Sunday; The teams edit their films
Exactly 48 hours later, (Sun 6:30pm) Teams arrive, Dressed to dine,
Screen the films and Celebrate with an Academy Awards Finish.
Participants receive a DVD copy of their film at the public screening.
All equipment is supplied and operated by the team leaders, all you do is show up and act.

Write On
A Super-fun writing class with Alex Haber.
This class is for anyone interested in playwriting and/or screenwriting. Over the course of ten weeks, students will write and workshop a ten minute play. Please note: If your script is longer, we will choose a ten minute section or scene to focus on during the class. The course culminates in a staged reading of your work, performed by professional actors.

This one day workshop looks at what you can do in that audition room to give

Friday Night Shakespeare
Shakespeare's plays are not as difficult to grasp as they might seem.
In fact they're really quite fun to play in. He gives us hints on how to play
the moments, right there in his text.
This class will help the student to understand and appreciate Mr Shakespeare's
use of story, character, dialogue, plot and poetry, in one play is chosen from the canon.
It makes reading and playing the works of William Shakespeare a lot easier.
And it's a lot of fun.

Though most of our classes are oriented toward adults, we have a long and impressive history of classes and workshops for teens. During the summer months we offer a two week long acting camp, and throughout the rest of the year we try to offer Behaviour I, Behaviour 2, and Scene Camera specifically for teens.
